46.55 miles in 5 hours and 7 minutes- not a record pace. We spent some time on gravel roads, and the last 18 miles were into a brutal head/sidewind that made us pedal to go down hill and constantly threatened to push us off the road.
We rode from Fludir up to Gulfoss falls at first, which involved some tough climbing and high-speed down hills. Daria was without her smallest (easiest) front gear for this section. Because there are no trees or such to lean a bike against, it took until we reached the visitor center at the falls for me to discover that her trouble was caused by her water bottle cage, which physically blocked her front dérailleur from moving into the proper position.
We finally set up our iThings to play music while we ride, which really helps in the sections where we're just grinding.
